While essential oils support health, candles are harmful to your health. They contribute to indoor air pollution and are considered as dangerous as second-hand smoke.

Studies show that when therapeutic essential oils are inhaled, they can reach every cell in our body within 20 minutes. Imagine the physical impact, and on our feelings, in particular.

Our sense of smell is directly connected to the limbic system in the brain. Also known as the emotional control center, the limbic lobe (connected to the olfactory system in the nose), plays a big role in memory, behavior and emotions.

When odor molecules attach to odor receptors, the body responds by sending electrical impulses into the brain. This causes different physiological responses depending on the aroma detected.

Aromas impact our bodies before we're even concsciously aware of it. They can set the mood or atmosphere in any environment while uplifting, de-stressing and supporting emotional balance. They can trigger our memories and calm our feelings.

YL has been a game-changer for this anxious momma, and I used to make my own candles, friends. And when I say I made my own, I'm talking on a grand scale! I had so much equipment and molds and colors and scents. I even recycled and re-poured the fancy home store candles! But, oils are better, safer, and I'll never look back!

Empowerment Over Anxiousness

Before I became a mom, I never felt anxious. Heck, even when I *should've* had anxious feelings for my own self-preservation as a young foolish teenager I didn't. No, I was carefree as I could be, adventurous and brave. While my Indiana Jones days are behind me (grateful for the experiences, happy to have survived them), I know I'm still brave. Heck, I'm an entrepreneur and motocross mom.

But, bravery is also an inherent trait in anxious people. It's often said our bravely comes from an inner strength that enables us to endure more than most can take, which is where the eventual anxiousness comes from, and I know that's me to a literal T. So, if you ever feel weak for feeling anxious, I'd like to remind that you're not, and encourage you to save this post until you've tried each tip. I hope you then feel as empowered by these tools as I do and begin to see how powerful you truly are at your core of your being everyday!

Before Young Living, I would have moments of feeling sheer panic, not all the time, but periodically out of nowhere when the stress mounted too high for even me to take. I say "even me" because--like most anxious people--I have a high threshold, but once that threshold is met, the waters are flowing over the dam, and it's hard to stop. Sound familiar? In those moments, pre-oils, I'd suffer in silence. I'd work through it the hard way, hiding out in my bedroom trying to rest but unable to as I did my best to talk myself down. Sometimes, it would take hours, and may not have lasted nearly as long if I had confided in my husband, but I didn't want to worry him or our kiddo, so gutted through it each time without ever saying a word. I should have contacted my doctor but I was raised to power through, so didn't even consider it an option.

Fast forward ten years. TEN YEARS.

I discovered Young Living and my entire world changed. My first experience in using oils to support emotional balance through a bout of anxiousness was diffusing Lavender. I immediately noticed how calm I felt just a minute or two later. So, I decided to also apply the oil to my chest (because why not) and it became a ritual to then place my hand on my heart and I could actually feel my heart rate slow to a normal pace again. Wow. From then on, I carried Lavender wherever I went, and I would apply it or inhale directly from the bottle five deep breaths until my heart relaxed and those uneasy, jittery feelings dissipated, and it happened every single time.

I then started experimenting. First, it was with Lavender and StressAway, like Lavender in the diffuser, and StressAway applied to my pulse points. This is when StressAway became my perfume! Then it was diffusing meditative Frankincense, and applying muscle-relaxing Valor over my chest and tight jaw.

Then it was making diffuser combos like Lavender, Vetiver and Cedarwood, and putting them in droppers, which felt so empowering to have at my fingertips! And while I still love Peace & Calming to slow my mind and calm my spirit, friends, it is absolutely next-level with Valor added to the mix!

Shortly thereafter, I discovered the power of the Frankincense resin burner. If you don't have one of these yet, it's like Frankincense oil on steroids! It's intoxicating and puts me in such a chill place that I forget to feel anxious! Sometimes, I just take a handful of resin my hands, and cup them over my nose and breathe deeply until I feel the ahhhhhhhhh.

Then it was tenting and baths. If you need a moment and there's no diffuser or you just want to try something new, try filling the sink with hot water as you add some drops of a soothing essential oil blend like White Angelica, and drape a towel over your head, lean close to the sink and breathe. What a powerful aromatic experience!

A restful night’s sleep is the foundation on which ALL emotional healing is based. This protocol is specific to these collections. The use of other essential oils, blends or supplements that help support rest may also be used.
